Galerie Les Yeux Fertiles opened its doors in 2001 at 27 rue de Seine, founded by Jean-Jacques Plaisance. Its name pays tribute to Paul Éluard’s collection of poems Les Yeux fertiles, illustrated by Picasso in 1936, and states its ambition: to explore and make visible the depths of the unconscious through art.
We are passionate about presenting the masters of international Surrealism, such as Bellmer, Brauner, Masson, Matta and Hérold, as well as those who flirted with the movement at some point in their careers, such as Erro and Goetz. We also champion artists on the margins of Surrealism, such as Leonor Fini, and those inspired by automatism, like Degottex and Hantaï.
The gallery also champions the great voices of Art Brut and Art Singulier, from Madge Gill to Louis Pons. It is a space for discovery and experimentation, where the boundaries between movements fade to make way for free and innovative expression.
We are honoured to take part in renowned art events such as Art Paris, the Salon du Collectionneur, Art Élysées and the Outsider Art Fair, where we continue to support visionary creators exploring the depths of the unconscious. In 2026 the gallery celebrated its 25th anniversary.
