Art Singulier

In 1978 the exhibition Les Singuliers de l’art, at the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, brought together creators who belonged neither to Art Brut in the strict sense nor to the avant-gardes: unclassifiable artists, often self-taught, who invented their own techniques.

Pierre Bettencourt composes his high reliefs from seeds, pebbles and butterfly wings; Louis Pons turns found objects into assemblages. The gallery also presents Aristide Caillaud, Josette Rispal, Mario Chichorro and Mirabelle Dors, each with a language entirely their own.

What they share: the hand, the gesture, patience. Move the works around and compose your own assemblage.
